Protecting Southern California’s City, County, and State Workers

Secure your rights & pursue recovery with experienced municipality workers comp attorneys

Seeking compensation that you deserve from your employer if you work for cities like Anaheim, counties like San Bernardino County, or the State of California can feel hopeless when your employer is the government — the same organization that decides what you’re entitled to.

It’s crucial to remember that public sector workers in state, city, or county jobs have the same workplace rights as everyone else. Just like any other worker in Southern California, you can get compensation for treatment and costs created by your injury or illness.

If recovery from your on-the-job injury feels out of reach, hire SoCal Workers Comp to close the gap and secure the compensation you deserve. Municipalities FAQ

Are government employees entitled to workers’ compensation in Southern California?

Yes, every California employer is responsible for protecting employees on the job and can be found liable if they fail to do so — including city, county, and state government agencies.

What treatments are covered by workers’ compensation?

Workers’ compensation insurance should pay for all medically standard and necessary treatments to get you healthy again. Under California state law, this means treatments that are scientifically proven to cure or relieve work-related injuries and illnesses.

Treatment includes diagnostic tests like x-rays and MRIs, prescription drugs, physical therapy, and even surgery if it’s necessary for your recovery. Our team will ensure you get expert treatment that will make a difference in your condition and your claim for compensation.

How long do I have to report my work-related injury?

You must provide written notice of your work-related injury to your employer within 30 days after you were hurt. Filing a claim form with your employer within this time satisfies this requirement. In cases of illnesses or chronic conditions that develop gradually, report it as soon as you learn or believe it was caused by your job.

Can I receive other benefits while on workers’ compensation?

You may be able to receive Social Security Disability Insurance benefits in addition to workers’ compensation benefits. However, both benefits may be reduced. Generally, there is no California State Disability Insurance for work-related injuries or illnesses. If the state’s disability insurance agency issues benefits while a workers’ compensation case is pending, a lien will be filed to recover those benefits when the workers’ compensation case is settled.
